Role: Totally Runable Assistant Trainer

Location: Schools in Bradford

Rate: £10 - 16 per hour

Average of 10 hours per week for 6 weeks. From w/c Monday 14th September to Friday 23rd October. Weeks can vary slightly but our courses take place roughly between the following times:

Monday 10 am – 5 pm
Tuesday 10 am – 5 pm
Wednesday 1 pm – 3 pm
Friday 12.30 pm – 3.30 pm

Training Day 26th August, Manchester Regional Arena, Rowsley St, Manchester, M11 3FF

We work in schools with children and school staff to help them close their Gender Sport Gap.

We are looking for positive, motivated and inspiring individuals to join our coaching team delivering courses and workshops in schools.

All our sessions are delivered by two trainers. As an Assistant Trainer you will work alongside our experienced Lead Trainers. You don’t need any specific coaching qualifications or experience just a willingness to learn and get stuck in.

The Job

Supporting the Lead Trainer on delivery of an agreed programme of courses and workshops with children and school staff within primary schools.

Building relationships with school staff, parents and other trainers.

Keeping up to date with equity issues in the Sport, PE and Physical Activity sectors and actively seeking to further ‘on the job’ knowledge and experience.

Acting as a role model for the children in the sessions and promoting Totally Runable’s values.

Skills and Qualifications


There are no specific qualifications needed for this role

Level 2 fitness or NGB coaching qualification OR QTS/TA
Experience of delivering PE lessons to KS1/2/3 children
PE specialism

Experience and special knowledge

A broad understanding of sport and physical activity equity issues

Awareness of landscape of school PE and sport
Awareness of the barriers to female participation
Awareness of the barriers to BAME participation
Experience of organisation/delivery of sports events e.g. sports days, tournaments or PE conferences
An understanding of the education sector including the role of local authorities or Multi Academy Trusts
Experience working in a school environment delivering PE/coaching sport OR in the sport or fitness industry with experience of working with children/young people
An understanding of school/club links
Good knowledge and understanding of health and wellbeing and experience of supporting people to adopt healthy lifestyle habits


You will be subject to a DBS check

First aid qualification
Safeguarding and child protection training

Personal circumstances

Ability to travel independently to locations across Bradford to deliver sessions

Current driving license and own vehicle
